At the first glimpse of tenosynovitis, an immediate preventive measure to be undertaken
is to avoid the activity/movement causing it.
Modes of treatment
- Anti-inflammatory pain killers – for recovery from pain & swelling
- Rest – immobilization of the area could be required by application of splint or
bandage - Cold compression for short durations – for relief from pain & swelling
- Antibiotic medication – if the cause is infection
- Steroid injection – if tenosynovitis persists even after immobilization and the
cause is not infection - Physiotherapy – adopted under the situation that none of the above helps in recovery
- Surgery – last rare resort
