Phantom sensation is a perception after a limb has been amputated. A patient continues to experience a feel of existence of the amputated body part.
Even though the exact cause of phantom sensation is unknown, it can be safely presumed that the brain attempts to reorganize the senses after the amputation. This sensation is more prevalent in advanced age.
Phantom sensation is associated with a feeling of pressure and cold. This sensation originates in the spinal cord and brain.
Treatment is not perceived in such conditions as symptoms for phantom sensation are non-existent.
