Treatment

At the first glimpse of tenosynovitis, an immediate preventive measure to be undertaken
is to avoid the activity/movement causing it.

Modes of treatment

  1. Anti-inflammatory pain killers – for recovery from pain & swelling
  2. Rest – immobilization of the area could be required by application of splint or
    bandage
  3. Cold compression for short durations – for relief from pain & swelling
  4. Antibiotic medication – if the cause is infection
  5. Steroid injection – if tenosynovitis persists even after immobilization and the
    cause is not infection
  6. Physiotherapy – adopted under the situation that none of the above helps in recovery
  7. Surgery – last rare resort
