Lipoedema

Lipoedema is the symmetrical deposits of adipose (fatty) tissue in the subcutaneous region. The areas of the body mainly affected are buttocks & legs. This chronic disorder gradually develops over a period to cause pain, exaggerated swelling & other related problems.

This genetic disorder is more common among women which results in a presumption that Lipoedema is caused predominantly due to hormonal reasons.

Overweight does not cause Lipoedema but does affect it adversely.
